There are approximately 150 dams in Pakistan. The major chunk of dams is built during 1960 to 1975.
Pakistan has blessed that it hold the title of owing largest dam on earth which is Tarbela dam. Mangla dam, Mirani dam, Warsak dam and Sabakzai dam also top dams in Pakistan.

Pakistan is an agriculture country and its economy depends on agriculture. A lot of water is requires for growing crops, hence dams is a big source to supply of water for agriculture.
Dams are also helpful in producing electricity.

First of all, kala-Bagh dam construction is not an issue, because the paperwork and other important detail about water storage and power generation project over river were prepared a long time ago. Because it is a most appropriate option to deal with the wastage of millions of waters during monsoon season. It also produce 4500 megawatts electricity.
But unfortunately, dam has been postponed by the political dispute.

Secondly, after the delay of 25 years, the next step for the Diamer-Basha Dam and Mohman Dam has finally been cleared.
The Supreme Court start campaign to collect the funds for these 2 dams through donations. It has brought much needed attention to the problem of water scarcity in the country and urgent need an action.
But the fund was never going to come close to needed amount of dam. Because the Diamer-Basha dam alone budget in RS1.5 trillion.

Benefits of the project

Both projects, Mohmand dam hydropower project and Diamer-Basha dam water reservoir, will help the problem of water storage and electricity shortfall that Pakistan has been facing for a long time.
